​Sustainable packaging

The packaging that helps protect and market our brands has environmental impacts throughout a chain that stretches from our suppliers, through the retailer, to the consumer and beyond.

Our customers expect the brands they enjoy to be in perfect condition when they buy them – and we want them to stand out on the shelf. We also want to use packaging which has the lowest environmental impact while protecting, delivering and presenting the quality of our brands.

Our targets

We have set four sustainable packaging targets.

  • Reduce total packaging weight by 15%
  • Increase recycled content to 45%
  • Make 100% of our packaging recyclable or reusable
  • Sustainably source all our paper and board packaging to ensure zero net deforestation.

We have created new additional plastic targets for 2025.

  • Achieve 40% average recycled content in all plastic bottles (and 100% by 2030)
  • Ensure 100% of our plastics will be designed to be recyclable, reusable or compostable in countries where we operate

We are continuously looking for ways to work with our suppliers, customers and consumers to ensure that our packaging is sustainable as well as effective.

We're proud of the great liquids in our bottles – and we're always on the lookout for ways to reuse or recycle once the bottles are empty.


Sustainable packaging commitments

Our Sustainable packaging commitments provide us with a framework for establishing sustainable packaging standards in our supply chain. They include specific design principles and state that our packaging should, where possible, be made with sustainable materials. Our packaging should also be technically recyclable or reusable, while meeting our quality and brand standards. Recognising the increasing concern about the impact of plastics on the environment, we also have an important supplementary Guideline on Plastics.
